Begin fundraising NOW!
E-mail your
friends and family, so you can achieve your personal fundraising goals. Email your friends and family from the web site. Your supporters
will be able to follow a link in their email and connect directly to a Sponsor
a Walker donation form.
-
THINK BIG! Set your personal fundraising goal. We ask that each
walker set a minimum goal of $150, but why stop there? The more clear you are
about your fundraising goal, the more likely you are to reach it. So what is
your personal goal? $1000? $5000? $10,000?
-
Make A
Game Plan: Whether they are family, friends, your local grocer or
employer, decide what would be the best method to approach your potential
donors (i.e. face-to-face or through a letter). Tailor your pitch to meet
each donor’s needs. Letter writing campaigns
are the most
effective fundraising method. Remember to include a copy of the
donation form
with every letter. Your fundraising kit has this form and is downloadable on
the Nuts for Mutts the Walk web site.
-
Never underestimate your donors. Start by asking high. This allows
your donor room to volunteer an amount that they might consider manageable.
You never know, they may surprise you and give the amount you request.
-
Know that your donors may ask why raising funds for New Leash On Life Animal
Rescue is important to you. It is imperative to have a clear answer
for why you are raising this money, whether it is because you feel strongly
about animal rescue or because you rescued a dog and know the great need Los
Angeles has to end pet overpopulation, or because you feel strongly about
having humane education in our schools.
-
Follow Up! Call or e-mail everyone who has said they will donate and
help them to follow through on their commitment.
-
Thank You! No matter what the size of the donation, always remember
to thank your donors.
-
And always remember to keep in mind The
Golden Rule of Fundraising:
ASK! If you don’t ask,
then you will not get donations. So ASK! ASK everywhere.
ASK everyone. Talk about Nuts for Mutts the Walk and
your commitment to help New Leash On Life and it’s life saving programs at
every opportunity.
